half up top knot

Need to freshen up that second-day hair? Apply our iconic oil, essence absolue, on dry hair. Dress it up with a braided top knot using shape paste for light control and definition.

Watch the video above or follow our step-by-steps to pull off a half up top knot with smooth and shiny strands that make skipping a shampoo chic and completely intentional.

Step 1: Section off three inches of hair from the scalp to the center of your head. Using a hair elastic, pull strands into a high ponytail.
Step 2: Emulsify a dime-size amount of shape paste into palms and spread onto ponytail for hold and control.
Step 3: Separate hair into three sections and braid the ponytail. Add thickness by pulling the braid apart starting at the bottom and working your way up.
Step 4: Twist the braid around the base of the ponytail, pinning as you position it in place to create a textured top knot.
Step 5: Apply sheer lacquer to the top knot for touchable hold.
Step 6: To smooth remaining hair outside of the top knot, apply a dab of essence absolue on your palm. Press palms through mid-lengths to ends for control, shine and ultimate smoothness.
