Q+A:

Do you have a favorite go-to?

My favorite “go to” is the Essence Absolue Universal Balm. I love this product because it truly is universal. It significantly nourishes both hair and skin due to its precious ingredient - Red Camellia oil. Red Camellia oil finishes the hair by leaving everything nourished and soft. It protects from dryness and detangles hair with no sticky residue.

When building body and volume in hair, is there a product combo that you love behind the chair or suggest to clients?

My top two product recommendations are Awa Volume volumizing hair mousse and Umou Hold hair cream. The Awa Volume mousse provides maximum volume and long-lasting control wherever you put it on the hair. Umou Hold provides a strong hold with the perfect polished look. “Haigo” these two products give the body and volume you want with the all-day hold you need.

How do you think the precious ingredient story plays into speaking to products with clients?

I truly enjoy telling the story of the precious ingredients. It helps explain the high level of care Shu Uemura has for its products which benefit both the stylist and the end user. Shu Uemura understands that details matter and proves it by the care taken with the precious ingredients.

What makes Shu so appealing to clients and stylists?

First - the beautiful packaging. It is incredibly thought out and detailed, plus appealing to the discerning eye. The packaging draws interest to see the contents – the well-presented bottle. The scent upon opening the vessel bespeaks the clean nature of every product. The final, and irresistible, step is to use the product.

To sum up: The products are very user-friendly for both stylist and client. Nothing is overly complicated, and it does exactly what it says it will do. Thus, these products deliver results.

Which two products can you not live without? And why?

First: I never do without the Essence Absolue Nourishing Taming night serum. Essence Absolue night serum leaves my hair feeling healthy, soft, and shiny. The product leaves the hair very lightweight thus desirable for nightly use.
Second: The Nendo Definer clay hair pomade is my favorite styling product for my short hair. It has a soft workable hold, provides texture, and has a matte finish. These two products give me everything I need to feel confident throughout the day.
