Rated 1 out of 5 by from SO DISPPOINTED SO DISAPPOINTED!!! I used the original formula of color lustre for years and it was amazing!!! No scalp irritation, not an overpowering scent, it was perfect. This new formula made my scalp so itchy and the smell is overpowering. What the heck Shu Umemura!!! GO back to the original!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from New formulation smells bad I am writing the review as I am the one who made the purchase. It was for my wife who has used Color Lustre shampoo for years having bought it at salons before I started getting it for he online. In June, I placed an order for this shampoo and it said that it was back ordered, but ironically it went into my shopping cart and charged my credit card. When it arrived, it was conditioner, not shampoo. I contacted customer service and they asked if I wanted a credit or a replacement . I took the credit since it was still showing out of stock. They did not require that the conditioner be returned. A few days later, the product was available again and I placed 2 order with 2 bottles in each. The reason that I placed 2 orders was because of a promotion they were running to maximize the free goods with purchase. When both orders arrived on the same day all 4 bottles had leaked. I took them out of the box, and because you really could not see what might have leaked, I cleaned the bottles with water, threw away the boxes and put them in our storage closet. My wife likes having inventory ever since covid as supply chain issues made getting a lot of things in a couple days less reliable. I sent an email to customer service but it took a month for them to reply and they offered a discount on a future purchase with a limited time frame. Finally in October, she started using the product and said that the product was different and she could not stand the smell. I wrote customer service about a return and because it was over 30 days, they would not take it back. I guess I should have returned them upon receipt since they had leaked, but I was trying to be pragmatic. So I asked customer service if the formula had changed just on this product or the mask that she also uses as I did not want to order the mask if the smell was the same. Instead of answering, they said to call to discuss or look at the ingredients. In disgust, I wrote back to pleas answer the question. I also wrote to the president of the division to ask if the formula had changed along with my previous correspondence. I received an answer quickly reply from customer service but do not know if the president passed it on or if they were answering the question I asked the second time. Yes the whole line has changed. I do not know why a company will change a product and still keep the same name and if they do to not mark it new. I have the product in my office and my wife keeps coming and opening it to see if she thinks it is usable. It is not. What do you say about someone doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result? If you are a previous customer of this product, be aware that the product is not what you are used to getting.
