Long time customer but no more!
Seldom provide reviews but considering this may have been one of the worst customer service experiences I've ever encountered, I felt compelled to share so others could be aware.
I've purchased your product for many years direct from my hair stylist and loved the product. Because of limited availability at the hair salon, in 2023, I started purchasing this same pomade direct from your company. No problems until this last pomade I received.
In Dec 2023, I ordered the same product, pomade, and opened it up in January when my last container was empty. This pomade was nothing like what I have ordered the past year nor was it like the pomade I've used for the past 10 years. The pomade I've used is white, creamy with a medium hold, I loved it. The pomade I received in December was clear, dense, very sticky and hard to rub in...clearly not the same product I've used the past several years.
After 1 hour on the phone with Shu Uemura's customer service in January, I was told they could do nothing for me because the product I received in December was the same I had used all of 2023. In a sense, they were calling me a liar, a customer who has used your product over 10 years. After all these years of using and liking your product, I am positive I can distinguish between what I've always used and what I received in December and I can assure you, they are NOT the same product (even though I was told they were).
This isn't about the money but rather the principle of how to treat a customer. I've been in sales for over 25 years and I know what it means to take care of your customer. Without question Shu Uemura is not a customer first company, otherwise, they would have listened to a long time customer and found a resolution rather than telling me I didn't know what I was talking about! Very disappointing.
At this point, I've moved on and will not ever use Shu Uemura again based on how I've been treated as a long time customer.
